The Calculator on this page will Calculate FORMULAS (or EXPRESSIONS).
It will Calculate an unlimited number of YOUR FORMULAS, as well as the built in
statistical ones. Just enter the Formula into the Formula field,
click the ENTER button, and next enter the VALUE of
each VARIABLE (if you are calculating a formula) and then click the COMPUTE
button.
For example: A FORMULA like:
m=2.4*a^n-c*b+cos(j) /ln(t) or an EXPRESSION (no variables) such as:
2/ln(4.9)^2.01-12^(1/2)=-2.837998649120903.
NOTE:
The ONLY time to use the ENTER button is when Calculating a user defined
FORMULA. A Formula must have one Variable, followed by an = sign, followed by
one or more variables, operators and/or functions. To Calculate Expressions (no variables except x or y in summations),
the built in Statistical Formulas, or Conversions, only the
COMPUTE button is
used.
NOTE:
The VARIABLES can be only one character in length. The only VARIABLES that may be
used for
SUMMATIONS
are
x
or
y
. These may also be used in Formulas that do not include Summations.
They may NOT be used as a Summation Variable AND a Stand alone Variable in the
same Formula. The
Variables, p &
e can also be used for the constants,
pi and e . Just click on their
respective buttons and they will be replaced by their values.
For SUMMATIONS, use 'sigma' and place the summation string inside ( ).
e.g. sigma(x^1/2+6). IMPORTANT: Multiplication requires the times sign
'*'.
For the STATISTICS calculation of Linear Regression, NEW values for
x (X) and
y (Y) are computed based on a NEW input of
x
or
y. CALCULATE the Correlation Coefficient FIRST. (Values of
r close to 1 or -1 are the most accurate.
Values close to 0 are not reliable.) Next, click the X or Y button and enter a
NEW value for
x (if you are calculating y), or
y
(if you are calculating
x), into the
NEW value field first, and THEN click COMPUTE.
The Math functions are : sin(), cos(), tan(), asin(), acos(), atan(),
ln(), exp(), pow(), max(), min(), sqrt(), sigma() & abs(). Angles are given in RADIANS.
For square root use sqrt() OR m ^(1/2) or m ^.5 where m is the value for which the square root is required. For the nth
root use m ^(1/n) or pow(m,(1/n)).
The operators are !(factorial), +, -, ^(exponentiation), /(division) & *(multiplication).
For exponents you can use either ^ e.g. 5^2=25 OR pow(m,n) where m is the base
& n is the exponent e.g. for 5 squared use: pow(5,2).
NOTE: Only ln (the
natural log) is supported. Using log (log base 10) gives the natural log
results.
NOTE: The only operations allowed when calculating in the HEX or BIN modes are add; subtract, multiply and divide. Also no
mathematical functions can be performed (sin, cos, ln ...).
If you require the ability to Calculate AND Solve COMPLEX FORMULAS or EQUATIONS that have VARIABLES
(which can include greek symbols and be more than one character in length)
such as:
b=(LN((((LN(k+((ef-(x+y)^k)/100))/LN((a/r+p)^(1/p))))-b)^(1/p))/LN(m))-0.5k/bu-(d+c);
